For Helmuth Saatkamp, a Frontend Engineer at Mercedes-Benz.io, excellence is about transformation — turning ideas into reality, one line of code at a time. His blueprint for success is built on respect, truthfulness, and gratitude, values that have guided him across continents and careers.

From Brazil to Mercedes-Benz.io

Helmuth’s journey began in Brazil, where he graduated and started his career in startups - a foundation that fueled his curiosity and passion for growth.

“Startups are dynamic and fast-paced,” he recalls. “They challenge you to learn quickly and experiment boldly.”

After gaining experience in his home country, Helmuth moved to Germany, continuing his work in startups before transitioning to Mercedes-Benz.io. “When I saw that the company shared the same DNA — innovation, creativity, and collaboration — it felt like the perfect fit,” he says.

Passion for Building and Learning

Helmuth’s career hasn’t just been about coding; it’s been about understanding users and solving problems.

“I’ve always been curious,” he shares. “Even as a kid, computers fascinated me. They captured my imagination.”

That passion for learning and creating has defined his approach at Mercedes-Benz.io. “My main purpose is to turn ideas into reality,” he explains. “Whether it’s building a webpage or enhancing user experience, it’s all about creating something meaningful.”

Celebrating Milestones

Helmuth treasures the moments that mark progress, both personal and professional. He fondly recalls the day he joined Mercedes-Benz.io. “It was a beautiful morning — the sun was shining, the birds were singing,” he says with a laugh. “I remember calling my wife, celebrating with friends, and sharing the news with my family.”

Another standout memory was meeting his colleagues in person after two years of virtual interactions due to the pandemic. “It was surreal to finally see everyone face-to-face. They weren’t just names on a screen anymore — they became real”.

A Culture of Growth

For Helmuth, Mercedes-Benz.io's culture is a driving force.

“This place pushes you to become the best version of yourself: Want to learn a new language? Here’s a course. Want to develop a new skill? Here are the tools.”

This environment of continuous improvement aligns with his values of respect, truthfulness, and gratitude.

“Respect means breaking down walls and being authentic. Truthfulness builds confidence and trust, and gratitude keeps you grounded.”

When he’s not coding, Helmuth finds peace at the beach. “The sun, the sea, the sounds of nature — it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge,” he shares.
